Love Song To An Introvert

Come sit by me here
I know it’s all right to ask
And we can talk of how it will be
Outside it’s gently raining
Inside the fires are burning
You’re quiet and you haven’t, haven’t much to say
I won’t worry if you come to me later
It’s the love in me that makes me want to know
When you’re tired, and your head is heavy
I say “don’t you want some time to be alone”
And life is so loud
With so many ways to colour
The things that you and I both know we need
It’s a picture of a moment
Oh, a record of singer who
Maybe needs to hum, maybe needs to hum this time around
I won’t worry if you come to me later
It’s the love in me that makes me want to know
When you’re tired, and your head is heavy
I say “don’t you want some time to be alone”
I love you for your quiet
Though I will keep on talking
And you will smile and nod like you do
And I won’t fall to pieces ‘cause everything has two sides
Sometimes on the inside, sometimes on the outside
Every side is beautiful
I won’t worry if you come to me later
It’s the love in me that makes me want to know
When you’re tired, and your head is heavy
I say “don’t you want some time to be alone”
Don’t you want some time to be alone
Don’t you want some time to be alone
Don’t you want some time to be alone
I Can’t Come Back

Man is best when he does not know
Of the richness at his feet
For then he cannot change it all
To what he doesn’t need
I went up on the mountain’s edge
And looked down on the land
A stranger to my own dear home
For years I’ve been abroad
And where I’ve gone, I’m loth to say
For most will hear it wrong
And think too poorly of this girl
For traveling on my own
Once I met a man from Spain
He wore a leather hat
And placed a feather in the band
To say he worried not
He treated all with an unkind heart
And abused my giving ways
So off I wandered over the sea
To find a quiet place
Then I met a man from the north
With a laugh and no true smile
Underneath was a cruel hand
So I left after a short while
How I missed my mother dear
My father and my land
But when I left it looked so green
And water filled the valleys
Now I’ve returned it’s dusty dry
The fields are burned and black
And where on earth could I find love
If the creatures can’t come back
And man is best when he does not know
Of the richness at his feet
For then he cannot change it all
To what he doesn’t need
